We all have times in our lives when we have difficulties with distressing feelings, stresses, experiences or relationships and our usual ways of coping no longer seem to be working. At times like these, counselling can provide gentle, professional support and a time to feel REALLY listened to in a safe, confidential space.
Talking can help you to work out how to deal with negative thoughts to make positive changes. For example, you may want to look at the anger you feel towards your partner to be able to communicate in a more useful way, or you may find it helpful to learn how to look after yourself when you get anxious or stressed.
A counsellor can help you explore, clarify and understand more clearly what is happening for you, to understand more about why you are feeling the way you do at the moment, allowing you a greater choice of how to go forward.
In my own counselling work I will help you to look at the roots/causes of the things which trouble you, to explore your current situation in the light of what you discover, and to consider what changes you can make to shape your future. These might, for example, be changes in the way you view yourself, or in your attitudes or ways of responding, or changes in your physical circumstances. I will continue to work with you, if you wish, to support you whilst you make these changes.

The first step is to email me or call me and we can arrange a time to meet for the first session. This is an opportunity to talk about your needs and requirements and to ask me any questions that you may have. This initial session allows you to experience how a therapy session might be for you and for you to see if I am the right counsellor for you.
